Trump Administration Fires Top US Military Leaders

By MOATVALERTNEWS

Washington, D.C. – February 21, 2025– In a historic shake-up, President Donald Trump has dismissed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth removed Navy Chief Admiral Lisa Franchetti and Air Force Vice Chief Gen. James Slife.

Brown has been replaced by Air Force Lt. Gen. John Dan “Razin” Caine, a retired officer—an unusual choice for the nation’s highest military post. The administration stated the move is part of its effort to refocus the military on “deterring, fighting, and winning wars.”

The firings, long rumored within the Pentagon, come amid Trump’s push to eliminate what he calls “woke” leadership. Hegseth, who has criticized diversity and inclusion efforts, previously referred to Franchetti as a “DEI hire.” Additionally, the administration plans to replace the Judge Advocates General (JAGs) of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, a decision experts warn could undermine military justice.

Trump has long praised Caine for his role in the fight against ISIS and emphasized that the leadership overhaul is necessary for national security. Critics, however, see it as politically motivated, raising concerns about military stability.
